Fairies is an installation made of 230,000 feet of black-tie wire that spans 1,800 square feet of the main lawn in front of the Philip Johnson building at the List Art Center. Made of steel, its true beauty and character is revealed when configured outdoors as its appearance changes over time, rusting and collecting natural debris. At night, it also reflects light from many sources through the mirrors and reflective sheeting.
Fairies is a piece that is a foreign, magical man-made landscape within a natural environment transposing over time.
